Is divorce mediation a good idea?

If you decide to move forward with divorce, both you and your partner need to be on the same page to a certain degree. If both of you are okay with the idea of divorce mediation, it could go a long way in saving time and money.

There is no denying the fact that there are times when traditional divorce litigation is a must. However, you don’t have to go down this path. Before doing so, it would be in your best interest to learn more about divorce mediation, including the many benefits.

During mediation, both parties work with a neutral mediator to resolve each and every issue. This can include issues such as child custody, alimony, child support and the division of assets and debts. Of course, both parties also have the right to bring a lawyer to mediation sessions.

The mediator is not responsible for making key decisions on behalf of the divorcing couple. Instead, this person is staffed with the responsibility of keeping peace and making sure that the process moves forward in the appropriate manner.

If you are heading towards divorce mediation, it is important to consult with an experienced family law lawyer. This is where our law firm can help.
